Ameen compared with Odoo

Odoo is a large, modular, open-source ERP with an implementation ecosystem around it. Ameen is a small bilingual ERP with one plan. They suit different businesses.

This page is written by the people who make Ameen, so read it as a statement of what we do rather than as a neutral review. We have tried to be accurate about where we are the weaker option. Check anything you are relying on against Odoo's own current documentation.

The honest summary

Odoo covers far more ground than Ameen. Manufacturing, project management, ecommerce, CRM, marketing, field service, a large app marketplace, and the option to self-host are all things Odoo has and Ameen does not. If your requirements list includes any of those, Odoo is the better tool and you should stop reading here.

Where Ameen is different

Ameen does one shape of business: contacts, catalog, inventory, sales, purchasing, accounting, reports, and employees, in Arabic and English, for a company small enough that an implementation project would cost more than the software. There is one plan, every module is in it, and pricing does not change with the number of users.

Arabic and direction

Ameen renders language and text direction on the server, so Arabic is the primary layout rather than a mirrored English one, including mixed Arabic names with Latin SKUs and Arabic-Indic or Western digits. Odoo does support Arabic and right-to-left; how well it fits your workflow is something you should judge from a live trial rather than from our description of it.

Effort to start

Odoo's flexibility usually arrives with configuration, and many businesses buy partner time to get running. Ameen has fewer choices to make, which is a limitation as much as a feature: you cannot reshape it to an unusual process, and if your process is unusual you will feel that quickly.

Common questions

Is Ameen a replacement for Odoo?
Not generally. Odoo covers manufacturing, projects, ecommerce, CRM, and much more. Ameen covers sales, purchasing, inventory, accounting, reports, and employees for smaller businesses.
Does Odoo support Arabic?
Yes, Odoo supports Arabic and right-to-left layouts. We would not characterise how well it fits your workflow; judge that from a live trial of their current version.
Can I self-host Ameen like Odoo?
No. Ameen is a hosted service only. Odoo offers a self-hosted open-source edition; Ameen does not.
How does pricing compare?
Ameen is 20 JOD a month or 200 JOD a year with every module included and no per-user charge. We do not quote Odoo's pricing here because it varies by edition, users, and partner; check their site.
